Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art

Dan and I have been in Winston-Salem, North Carolina all week, with Dan working remotely while I facilitate focus groups for a local arts organization.

My friend Mary Beth insisted that we make time for SECCA (pronounced Seeka), the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Arts.

The galleries were illuminating, including the eye-widening Owens Daniels exhibition — were you aware of the Brown Paper Bag Test? — and the peter campus video installations.

The SECCA grounds also happen to be gorgeous, especially in autumn.

Half of SECCA is located within a more contemporary building, the other half within an English Hunt-style mansion owned by a member of the Hanes family. (That Hanes.)

More North Carolina adventures coming soon!

Hello, gorgeous.
