Dior: From Paris to the World

^^Me at left, my friend Anali at right.

A few months ago, Anali sent me an enthusiastic message about the Denver Art Museum’s exhibition Dior: From Paris to the World. We finally connected on a date to play hooky and make our way down to the DAM.

From DAM’s website: “Dior: From Paris to the World surveys 70 years of the House of Dior’s enduring legacy and its global influence. A selection of more than 200 couture dresses, as well as accessories, costume jewelry, photographs, drawings, runway videos, and other archival material, traces the history of the iconic haute couture fashion house, its founder, Christian Dior, and the subsequent artistic directors who carried Dior’s vision into the 21st century.”

Though I’m personally a bit of a slob, I adore fashion as art. The DAM’s Dior exhibit did a fascinating job of setting the historical context of the various eras of style under House of Dior.

History lessons aside, the couture was simply showstopping.

Even the exhibit experience itself was lovely. We were provided with audio guides that occasionally popped up with reference artwork to help explain the piece in detail.

From start to finish, this was one of my favorite exhibitions of recent memory. Though I may never be a haute couture customer, fashion itself is relevant to all of us — even those of us who work from home and can mostly be found in jammies. (I was so thrilled to be out of the house today! Thank you Anali!)

Hello, gorgeous.
