Old Firehouse Books, Scrumpy’s Hard Cider

Dan and I have been unpacking relentlessly since Monday and both needed a night out. For a month I’d been planning to visit Old Firehouse Books for their “Swords & Lasers Book Club” (fantasy and sci-fi, if you couldn’t guess; they have other clubs for other tastes). I visited on my own to chat about An Enchantment of Ravensleave it to me to travel 1k+ miles from home to discuss a book by a Cincinnati author.

Afterwards, Dan met me downtown for a long-awaited visit to Scrumpy’s Hard Cider. We tried a flight… and then a second, allowing us to sample all 15 Summit Ciders currently on tap. We were both so delighted — neither of us being beer people, we’ve never really been able to enjoy the flighting experience. Dan loved the Apple Strudel, the Pineapple and the Jenny Wren. I loved the bolder flavors of the Magpie, the Strawberry Basil and the spicy Raspeñero. The service was incredibly friendly (hi, Joe!) — we’re looking forward to visiting again to try all of the non-Summit ciders on tap. We’ll also be back when it gets a scootch colder — Scrumpy’s has a warm apple cider + rum cocktail that is calling our names.

Hello, gorgeous.
